Description:
Outgoing, senior year undergraduate or graduate level communications, journalism or marketing major with strong writing and social media skills needed to assist with the management of the Philadelphia Zoo’s UNLESS Campaign, a five-year initiative aimed at raising awareness of the impact of non-sustainable palm oil production on the survival of orangutans and driving the demand for sustainable palm oil in the US.

Time commitment: January 2013-May 2013
16-20 hours/week; in some cases, hours may be worked from home

Duties:
– Write 2-3 blogs per week for posting on the UNLESS Campaign website.
– Conduct appropriate amounts of research as needed to inform blog posts.
– Conduct interviews and create videos for blogs as necessary.
– Maintain Campaign member databases.
– Maintain Campaign member communications via UNLESS Campaign emails.
– Participate in developing creative strategies for increasing the effectiveness of the UNLESS Campaign via social media and online communications.
– Assist with implementing live programs, webinars and Skype sessions associated with the UNLESS Campaign.
– Other administrative tasks associated with the Campaign as needed.

Skills:
– Strong writing skills
– Strong research skills
– Demonstrated ability to utilize and integrate multiple forms of social media including Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram and Google Maps
– Ability to shoot, edit and upload short videos to social media platforms (preferred)
– Strong attention to detail
– Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
– Interest in the protection of wildlife and the planet
