GOVERNOR RENDELL ANNOUNCES THIRD ANNUAL PENNSYLVANIA GOVERNOR?S CONFERENCE FOR WOMEN SET FOR SEPT. 14 IN PITTSBURGH

HARRISBURG — Governor Edward G. Rendell announced that the state?s premiere networking and educational experience for women in Pennsylvania will be held Sept. 14, 2006, at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center in Pittsburgh. The third annual Pennsylvania Governor?s Conference for Women is expected again to attract thousands of women from across the commonwealth.

?The women?s conference is a fantastic opportunity for women of all ages and backgrounds to invest in their future both personally and professionally,? said Governor Rendell. ?For Pennsylvania to continue enjoying economic success, everyone must do their part. Our investments are playing a role, but it?s the people who attend conferences like this who really make a difference.? http://www.pagovernorsconferenceforwomen.org. The conference will feature more than 75 speakers who will share their insights and experiences in the fields of health, media, business, finance and personal development.

Last year, former Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O?Connor and former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright addressed the more than 4,500 women who attended the conference. New this year will be the presentation of more than 40, partial, four-year scholarships to deserving women from across the commonwealth. This program, developed in partnership with Pennsylvania colleges and universities, will deliver more than $400,000 towards the continuing education of Pennsylvania women of all ages.
