The Board of Directors of the Pennsylvania Campus Compact (PACC) invites applications for the position of Executive Director. PACC is one of 30 state Compact offices affiliated with the National Campus Compact. PACC is a coalition of 64 college and university presidents representing all sectors of higher education in the Commonwealth and who are committed to the civic purposes of higher education. Recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as an independent nonprofit organization under section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code, PACC’s offices are located on the campus of Messiah College in Grantham, PA.

The best candidate for this position will be someone who has a passion for public service, enjoys working in an environment that values collegiality, humor, and reflection, and works equally as well independently and as a member of a team.

The purpose of PACC is to: (1) assist academic presidents in promoting civic engagement in undergraduate education, (2) contribute to the development and enhancement of partnerships and collaborations between and among higher education institutions and their host communities, (3) connect member institutions with local, state, and federal resources to advance the members’ civic engagement agenda, and (4) serve as an advocate for higher education civic engagement initiatives with external organizations.

The Executive Director of the Pennsylvania Campus Compact leads and manages all aspects of the organization including, but not limited to the following:
* Serve as staff to the 8-10 college and university presidents who are PACC’s Board of Directors.
* Supervise two staff members who support the Executive Director with administrative and programmatic initiatives including a 25 member AmeriCorps*VISTA program.
* Develop and maintain annual budget of approximately $300,000 and oversee a "ready reserve" account and an investment account.
* Serve as the primary liaison with member institutions and identify and recruit new members.
* Raise and manage funds from government, foundations, and individuals to support organizational operation and programs.
* Represent PACC and its member institutions with PennSERVE (the Governor’s Office of Citizen Service), the Corporation for National and Community Service, the Pennsylvania Department of Education, and other partners in the civic engagement movement.
* Maintain a working and accessible partnership with all member institutions to support and promote civic engagement strategies on the campus by making frequent and ongoing site visits to member institutions.
* Plan and implement conferences, colloquia, symposia, and training events based on members’ needs.
* Cultivate a strong relationship with PACC’s host institution, Messiah College.

Qualifications:
* Master’s degree required, Ph.D./Ed.D. preferred in a related field (e.g. higher education administration, leadership, non-profit management).
* Minimum of 3-5 years of leadership experience in higher education civic engagement program and/or nonprofit management.
* Experience working with Boards of Directors preferred.
* Significant experience teaching service-learning courses and/or providing training on service-learning practice.
* Successful efforts to raise funds from government, foundation, and individuals. Effective grant writing and relationship building skills are essential.
* Excellent communication and public speaking skills.
* Experience supervising professional staff.
* Ability and flexibility to travel throughout the Commonwealth.
* Appreciation for humor in the work place.

Compensation:
Salary is commensurate with education and experience. A very generous benefits package includes medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and retirement. The start date is July 1, 2005.
