Parent Information Fair

Posted by on September 9, 2005

On Saturday, October 1, 2005, from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m., the Consortium for Parent Information and Education (CPIE) and our cosponsors, the Laboratory for Student Success (LSS) at Temple University Center for Research in Human Development and Education, the Black Alliance for Educational Options (BAEO), the School District of Philadelphia, and the Pennsylvania Parent Information Resource Center (PA PIRC) will be presenting the CPIE Parent Resource Fair. The fair is a demonstration of CPIE?s overall mission: the support of parent empowerment through provision of balanced, timely, and useful information and discussion that builds and enhances parents? capacity to make well-informed decisions about their children?s welfare and education.

Parents will be given access to the complete range of educational options, support, and services that are available through Philadelphia-area schools (district, charter, and independent), after-school services, and parent organizations. In bringing all these various organizations together for a common purpose, we hope to foster further collaboration in the service of children?s welfare and education.

The day will begin with an official welcome and overview of the Consortium for Parent Information and Education, its website, and resources. After the opening ceremony, people will be free to move about among the various displays sponsored by participating organizations, attend scheduled discussions in Temple classrooms, and have a specially-prepared meal (free outdoor barbecue) at Temple?s Bell Tower Pavilion. All events will take place on Berks Mall, 1210 W. Berks Street, Philadelphia, PA 19122, on Temple?s main campus and in surrounding buildings.

Contact CPIE for further information at 215-204-3030.
