Big Changes at Girard College!

A new evening study hall tutoring program at Girard College is seeking enthusiastic individuals to be part of the change.

Upper Grade Levels: 7-9th and 10-12th
Monday to Thursdays, 7:00pm-9:00pm

STUDY HALL TUTORS

Study Hall Tutors’ duties:
•    Assist students, one-on-one and in small groups, with homework in various subjects
•    Tutor students with fundamental skills as instructed by the program
•    Follow weekly class objectives and assignments provided by teachers online
•    Submit forms for completion of tutorial assistance with students

Applicants’ Required Qualifications:
•    Completed a minimum of 2 years of college in the tutored subject or Education
•    Prior tutoring or teaching experience
•    Submitted a Cover Letter and Resume with 3 Referrals

Study Hall Tutors work 2 hours an evening, with a pay rate of $70/evening, Monday to Thursdays. Tutors are expected to arrive 10 minutes prior to the commencement of each study hall evening. Positions are limited and highly competitive.

STUDY HALL HELPERS

Study Hall Helpers’ duties:
•    Supervise students awaiting tutorial assistance
•    Encourage students to stay on-task and provide homework guidance
•    Be a vision for youth in becoming productive citizens

Volunteer Applicants’ Qualifications:
•    Tutoring, teaching, or community service experience is not required
•    Currently enrolled in college or has some college experience
•    Submitted a Resume with a Referral

Study Hall Helpers are volunteer members, offered an opportunity to gain experience and serve the community with flexible schedules Monday to Thursdays, 7-9pm.

Study Hall begins Monday, November 15, 2010.
Preparation and training will be provided prior to the program’s commencement.

All educators are required to have a current (less than 1 year old) FBI clearance, a Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance (Act 151), an acceptable Criminal Record Check from the Pennsylvania State Police (Act 34) and pass the National Child Abuse Offenders List and general drug test screenings.
We will provide information on how to acquire these if necessary.
