PA Budget Impasse Survey for Local Nonprofits

Posted by United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey on August 10, 2015

As state budget discussions continue in Pennsylvania, nonprofits in our region could potentially face lasting effects on their daily operations. While payments for support services such as Medicaid, food stamps, and child care services have been deemed mandatory through the impasse, spending for other state funded services and federal dollars will not be authorized.

If the budget isn’t passed by mid-August, some organizations could be forced to look for financial alternatives to avoid service interruptions such as accessing lines of credit or even implementing layoffs.

United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey is collaborating with United Way of Pennsylvania and several other organizations to quantify the real impact this will have on our nonprofit partners. Once the data has been collected, there will be accurate information to communicate to the Administration and the General Assembly, as well as the media and the public, about the impacts statewide.

Please take a few moments to complete this survey and return by August 12. Your feedback and stories are critical as we advocate for the passage of a budget as soon as possible.
