Title: Operations Associate
Department: Operations
Reports to: Associate Executive Director

Position Summary
The Delaware Valley Association for the Education of Young Children is a non-profit, member organization that provides resources, support and advocacy in the early childhood education community on behalf of young children, birth through eight. The Operations Associate is responsible for all aspects of office operations and human resources.

Essential Functions

Operations
• Coordinate with vendors (supplies, telecommunications, building maintenance, insurance, etc)
• Negotiate and manage purchasing of office equipment and make recommendations for the procurement of new equipment where necessary
• Manage office supplies and equipment (orders, service calls, etc)
• Maintain multi-line phone system (organization, trouble shooting, etc)
• Streamline office administration, to include reduction of waste, increase in thrift, and documentation of administrative procedures, etc
• Communicate with staff regarding office procedures and memoranda

Human Resources
• Coordinate and manage several aspects of human resources, including:
– recruitment and new hire orientation
– implementation of personnel policies
– staff health and insurance benefits
– personnel recordkeeping, maintenance and reporting
– termination procedures
– assisting Controller with payroll, as needed

• Update HR processes, including:
– employee handbook
– job descriptions
– recruitment, interviewing, selection & verification
– EEO and ADA compliance
– performance & behavior management

• Assist with other tasks as requested by the Associate Executive Director

Additional Functions
Work as part of the DVAEYC program team and ensure positive relationships with all project partners and participants through effective communication, meeting attendance, and collaboration. Participate in DVAEYC events and activities as needed.

Minimum Job Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration or related field; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
