Salary: $16,380 – $21,840

I. Objective:
Coordinate, monitor or supervise the activities of afterschool program.

II. Job Purpose and Responsibilities:
The Operational Supervisor coordinates activities and functions of a designated program to ensure that goals and objectives specified for the program are accomplished in accordance with established priorities, time limitations, funding limitations or other specifications. The Operational Supervisor has complex responsibilities including preparations, control and decision making of the program.

III. Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Operational Supervisor must achieve core customer satisfaction by supervising the classroom by improving staff performance, establishing priorities and managing specific needs and changes within a site.
• Develops and recommends new or revised program objectives
• Develops and schedules program work plan in accordance with specifications and funding limitations; oversees daily operations and coordinates activities of program; determines priorities
• Monitors and approves program expenditures ensuring that budget allocations are not overspent
• Confers with and advises staff, students and others to provide technical advice, problem solving assistance, answers to questions and program goals and policy interpretation; refers to appropriate department person when unable to respond.
• Coordinates activities of program with inter-related activities of other programs , departments or staff to ensure optimum efficiency and compliance with appropriate policies, procedures and specifications
• Prepares periodic reports, financial statements and records on program activities, progress, status or other special reports for management or outside agencies.
• Evaluates program effectiveness to develop improved methods; devises evaluation methodology and implements; analyzes results and recommends and/or takes appropriates action.
• Reviews applications or other program documents independently or in conjunction with supervisor to determine acceptance or make decisions pertaining to program.

IV. Qualifications:
• Must be able to work a minimum 20 hours per week and one day per month for strategy meeting
• Must have patience and a strong desire to help students achieve their goals
• Must have an ability to speak in front of groups and present academic workshops
• Direct experience providing tutorial and/or academic support services for students from multicultural and low income communities is a plus

V. Statement of Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:
• Knowledge of principles and practices related to youth development and educational issues
• Must have strong and polished interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
• Creative, strategic and analytical thinker with the ability to manage multiple projects.
• Experienced in developing and managing budgets, hiring, and training, supervising and assessing personnel
• Must be highly organized and able to work well with others
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Windows based computer application and database management
• The ideal candidate will have previous supervisory experience in a community-based organization.
• Event planning; Curriculum planning and implementation.
• Flexible; possessing the ability to wear different, “hats” on short notice.
