Association of Performing Arts Presenters and MetLife Foundation Announce New Community Engagement Grant Program

The Association of Performing Arts Presenters and MetLife Foundation have announced the launch of a new program, All-In: Re-imagining Community Participation, to support innovative strategies that target the full spectrum of community members from all generations and populations in community-based performing arts programs.

The program will support APAP-member presenting organizations that exhibit outstanding approaches to community engagement.

The program is designed to identify and support organizations committed to learning about and integrating new approaches to fostering the participation of an entire community; support the planning and implementation of community engagement projects that go beyond conventional audience development strategies; and share new and adaptive strategies from funded projects in an effort to increase the effectiveness of community engagement practices.

Projects should target one or more populations that lack significant engagement in the arts and cultural life of the applicant’s community. Targeted populations may be based upon demographics unique to the community (e.g. ethnically diverse/immigrants, generational/older adults, economically disadvantaged, people with disabilities, or others).

Applicants must be nonprofit entities and be a current member of the Association of Performing Arts Presenters.

One-year grants of up to $25,000 will be awarded to presenting organizations in support of promising new approaches to community engagement through the performing arts. A total of $100,000 is available. One grant will go to an organization focusing on global cultural exchanges.
