EducationWorks is a not-for-profit organization that provides comprehensive support for economically disadvantaged communities in Philadelphia, Chester, PA; and Camden, NJ. Our goal is to provide educational programs and services that enrich the lives of children, youth and families confronting high rates of poverty and other barriers to educational achievement. We have recently restructured our marketing and development functions for the recruitment of the Marketing and Event Manager position.

The Marketing and Event Manager develops and implements a comprehensive marketing strategy that includes three annual fundraising events, media relations, and branding. The overall purpose of this position is to develop a widespread, superior reputation to support fundraising, collaboration, and growing programs.

The Marketing and Event Manager supervises the Marketing Media Specialist and reports to the Executive Director. Additionally, this position will work closely with the Board’s Strategic Planning, Development, Marketing and Young Professionals Committees.

Responsibilities

  • In collaboration with the Executive Director and the staff Planning Committee develop, implement, and evaluate an annual marketing plan across EW’s audiences and stakeholders.
  • Manage all aspects of three annual fundraising events, including venue and vendor selection, price negotiations, soliciting and engaging sponsors, ticket pricing and sales, on-site event management, and event follow-up.
  • Provide guidance, support, oversight, and supervision to the Marketing Media Specialist.
  • Engage with partners for joint development opportunities.
  • Manage media contacts.
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum three (3) years experience in nonprofit marketing.
  • Minimum two (2) years experience in event planning and management.
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism, or related field preferred; or general and technical knowledge equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Highly collaborative style; a relationship builder.
    Experience developing and implementing communications strategies.
  • Excellent writing/editing and verbal communication skills.
