Managing Director of White Dog Caf? Foundation

The White Dog Caf? Foundation (WDCF) is a 501?3 non-profit founded by Judy Wicks in January 2000, in order to build on the resources and expertise of the White Dog Caf? in achieving a higher level of social impact. Our mission is to help build more socially just and environmentally sustainable local economies, with a focus on the Greater Philadelphia Region. WDCF develops projects that support the vision of a local living economy?an economic system that provides secure and fulfilling livelihoods for all people, works in harmony with natural systems, supports biological and cultural diversity, and fosters fulfilling and enjoyable community life. We are a small, empowered staff with a strong teamwork ethic.

We are seeking a Managing Director to run the day to day operations of the WDCF, fundraise, and contribute creatively to our vision. The Managing Director will report directly to the President.

Responsibilities:

Foundation and Funder Research
? identify new sources and strategies for recruiting foundation, institution, and individual donors

Grant Writing, Administration and Funder Communication
? Collaborate with staff to develop/write grant proposals
? Track and meet deadlines for grants, renewals, grant reports, other funder requirements
? Provide regular updates and communications to existing funders

Develop Individual Donor Base
? Develop and maintain lists of individual donors
? Develop materials and programs for individual donor solicitation
? Solicit donations from individual 3 times a year

Planning
? Work with President and staff in creating a strategic plan
? Guide staff activities and fundraising in alignment with plan

Oversight of Foundation Staff
? Schedule and run weekly staff meetings
? Review weekly reports of project managers
? See that projects and grant commitments are on schedule.
? Hire and supervise

Financial Management
? Management of checking accounts and payments and receivables (using MYOB)
? Develop and monitor budgets
? Manage Payroll
? Oversee small grants fund

Qualities/Experience:

? Commitment to our mission of building a local living economy
? Congenial team player with good sense of humor
? Management/Organizational Development Skills
? Grant writing and familiarity with Philadelphia foundations
? Experience in running Individual Donor Campaigns
? Experience in budgeting, bookkeeping, and payroll

First priority will be given to candidates will a background in economic development and/or business.

Compensation: Salary commensurate with experience (between $40K – $60K), plus benefits package.
