Background
Philadelphia FIGHT (FIGHT) is a comprehensive AIDS Service Organization whose mission is to provide state of the art, culturally competent HIV primary care and access to clinical research, along with consumer education and a suite of social services to people living with HIV, and those who are uninfected but at high risk. Our goal and hope is to end the AIDS epidemic within the lifetime of those currently living with HIV.  FIGHT works towards this goal through its integrated care approach composed of eight organizational programs: The Jonathan Lax Center, Case Management, Care Outreach, Project TEACH (Treatment Education Advocates Combating HIV), The AIDS Library, The Critical Path Project, The Institute for Community Justice, and Y-HEP.

FIGHT’s Manager of Communications, PR and Events position provides an exciting and unique opportunity for a professional with a creative, entrepreneurial drive for advancing FIGHT’s work and message. This position will manage fundraising, outreach, and awareness events and campaigns, corporate relations, PR, social media, marketing, communications, collateral development and other activities promoting FIGHT’s brand. The role includes development of strategy, messaging, media relations, issues/crisis management, and promotion. The role manages key fundraising events and campaigns, including events for AIDS Education Month, FIGHT’s annual fundraising gala, the annual AIDS Walk, events for World AIDS Day, and others. The Manager reports directly to the Chief Strategy Officer, but we expect to hire a dynamic professional who will be able to operate with significant autonomy and take responsibility for leading many of these efforts.

Qualifications
•    Completion of a bachelor’s degree in Advertising, Journalism, Communications, Media Arts or related field, or equivalent work experience.
•    Knowledgeable of HIV/AIDS and how this affects historically marginalized communities.
•    Excellent analytical and presentation skills.
•    Strong written, oral communications, and interpersonal skills.
•    Solid organizational abilities.
•    A self-starter and team player.
•    Creative problem solver.
•    Proven ability to function in complex, diverse, multicultural environments.
•    Experience in developing print and online materials.
•    Strong computer skills in applications such Publisher, Photoshop, and social media sites (eg Facebook, Twitter, blogging).
•    Knowledge of website maintenance and content development is a plus.
•    Valid driver license

Responsibilities:
Organizational representation: Attend external events (such as community events, fundraisers, press conferences, meetings with stakeholders, etc.) on behalf of Philadelphia FIGHT. Provide tabling opportunities when necessary. Work with other ASO’s on joint awareness events, such as the annual Dining Out for Life event.

Social media: Work with Chief Strategy Officer and external consultants to design and implement an organization-wide social media plan. Manage this process and communicate to staff their role in FIGHT’s social media strategy. Maintain Facebook and Twitter accounts with designated FIGHT staff.
PR management: Serve as liaison between press, reporters, press opportunities and FIGHT’s Executive Director. Produce and circulate one press release a week concerning FIGHTs work and programs. Notify press and news about FIGHT-related events and ensure that they attend. Connect reporters requesting interviews with Executive Director or other FIGHT staff and consumers as appropriate.

Collateral material: Work with various department directors to ensure that collateral materials (eg brochures, flyers, etc.) are consistent in design across the organization. Manage vendor relationships and place orders for materials when needed.

Website maintenance: Work with Chief Strategy Officer and external consultant to review and revise website. Update website calendars and content on a regular basis.

Publications: Work with Chief Strategy Officer and Institutional Advancement Fellow to ensure that Annual Report and monthly staff newsletters are produced in a timely manner.

Donor and event follow-up: Ensure that prompt follow-up takes place by way of calls and thank you letters after events and fundraisers with donors, partners and stakeholders.

Events management: Project-manage events and assume responsibilities, which include developing event programs, sending invitations, alerting press when necessary, securing photographer and venue, securing speakers and talent when necessary, arranging interviews for high-profile events, securing ad space, soliciting donated items for events such as our annual gala/silent auction, maintaining relationships with corporate donors and sponsors, and other tasks tied to FIGHT’s various events and fundraisers.
