Lower Merion Dump Clean-Up Weekend

Posted by on April 7, 2006

Every year there is a Lower Merion Dump Clean-Up Weekend, and every year Neighborhood Bike Works goes and collects hundreds of bicycle donations from the community for our youth Earn a Bike program with the help of amazing volunteers like you.

This year the Clean-Up weekend is April 22nd and 23rd and we need your help. The collection times are Saturday and Sunday from 8am – 5pm at the Lower Merion Public Works Complex located at 1300 N Woodbine Avenue in Penn Valley. We will also need help unloading all the donated bikes at NBW after 5 pm.

We are hoping that you can help us out by taking a two-hour shift (or longer if you can) at some point during the weekend. If you are able to volunteer your time, please email volunteers@neighborhoodbikeworks.org or call 215.386.0316. We can’t do this without you!

Also, we will need several pick-up trucks (or other large vehicles) to transport the donated bikes back to our shop at 40th and Locust in University City at the end of each day of the Clean-Up. If you or someone you know can volunteer a truck, please email volunteers@neighborhoodbikeworks.org or call 215.386.0316.

On the same weekend of April 22nd and April 23rd there will also be the NBC 10 Fit Fest. The event will be held at the Pennsylvania Convention Center from 10am to 5pm. The event is a fun-filled health and fitness expo that allows people to get free medical screenings, as well as tips on exercising and healthy eating. There will also be plenty of games and activities for people of all ages to enjoy! For the third year Neighborhood Bike Works will be participating in this event and would love the help of volunteers like you!
