Lead Organizer, Philadelphia Student Union – Oct 8
Posted by Philadelphia Student Union on September 21, 2021
The Philadelphia Student Union (PSU) is hiring! Specifically, we are looking for a new Lead Organizer to join our team.
The Philadelphia Student Union is a nationally renowned youth organizing group with a history of successful campaigns at the school and city-wide levels. PSU is grounded in the values of educational justice, youth empowerment and the role of collective action in shaping society. PSU builds the capacity of youth to step outside of their oppression, training them to be organizers who have the concrete skills to fulfill the potential of their schools and communities. The organization works with public high school students across Philadelphia, developing student-led issue campaigns and other activities to build youth power in the city. Previous campaigns include resisting a private takeover of the School District of Philadelphia, fighting against planned school closures and an ongoing campaign for police free schools.
The Lead Organizer is a managerial staff position with the Philadelphia Student Union (PSU) responsible for managing PSU’s campaigns and programs. Specifically, the Lead Organizer will coordinate PSU’s youth-led issue campaigns and the organization’s member recruitment and development. The Lead Organizer works directly with the Executive Director and student leaders to identify PSU’s political priorities. They are then responsible for creating and implementing the plan to accomplish that vision.
Application deadline: October 8, 2021
