Judges needed for Carver Science Fair

The George Washington Carver Science Fair was created in 1979 and is the oldest urban science fair in the United States. The Carver Fair is open to students from all Philadelphia public, parochial, private, charter, and home schools. The 2007 Science Fair dates are February 26 through March 1 (grades 4-6), and March 5 through March 9 (grades 7-12).

There are several reasons why children enter the Carver Science Fair. It helps them with science in school, all receive certificates, and many receive medals and special awards. In addition, winners are eligible to participate in the Delaware Valley and International Science Fair. Moreover, students in the Carver Science Fair are honored by their schools, their teachers, their classmates, their families, their community, and their friends. Children and youth in out-of-school time programs can enter as well!

Adults can also participate. The Carver Fair is currently recruiting judges for both the Elementary and Secondary Fairs. Judges do not need a strong science background but only an interest in science, science education, and positive youth development.
