J. Jill Compassion Fund Seeking Grant Applications to Support Poor and Homeless Women

For the eighth straight year, the J. Jill Compassion Fund, a donor-advised fund at the Boston Foundation, will be making grants to community-based organizations supporting poor and homeless women.
Since 2002, the fund has contributed more than $2 million in grants to over fifty nonprofit organizations across the United States working to help women achieve sustainable self-sufficiency. Based in Quincy, Massachusetts, J. Jill is a women’s specialty retailer of clothing and accessories.
The J. Jill Compassion Fund supports job training, education, and transitional and/or affordable housing for women in need. The fund seeks programs that break down barriers for women in crisis to achieve and sustain self-sufficiency. Grant funding priority is given to programs and organizations that have established a relationship with or connection to one or more of the J.Jill store(s) and are located near one or more J.Jill store(s).
Applicants must be community-based organizations or national organizations with local affiliates serving women in need and must have 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status.
The fund provides support for general operating expenses. Program support is limited to the expansion or enhancement of existing programs, rather than to fund new programs.
