INTERNSHIP OPENINGS WITH ART SPHERE, INC (ASI)

ASI’s -CREATIVE ART’S TEAM is seeking passionate undergraduate or graduate student interns in the following areas (interns can provide all or one specific area):

Hands-on support in our after school art programs
o    After school art programs run once a month in two sites: Fishtown Recreation Center and Northern Liberties Recreation Center. We are looking for one to two interns at each site, who will also available to attend Friday planning and devising meetings.
o    Northern Liberties Recreation: Mon or Tues – 3:30 pm-5 pm
Fishtown Recreation Center: Wed or Thur – 3:30 pm-5 pm

Fridays: 9am-3pm at our midtown office.

A Community Volunteer Coordinator to attend mural painting events and work online organizing volunteers

Work Hours:
Each internship opportunity runs from September 2012 until May 2013, 2 days/week (approx 3-5 hrs/week)

Additional Saturday or Weekday 10am-2pm community mural painting or art workshop events three times a semester.

Compensation: This is a volunteer position. College credit available (must meet your university’s requirements for earning credits).  This internship provides undergraduate and graduate students with first-hand professional experience in a non-profit, arts education organization.

Location: Art Sphere Incorporated / 915 Spring Garden Street #401 Philadelphia, PA 19123 as well as Northern Liberties or Fishtown program sites.  Mural paintings and art workshop events occur throughout Philadelphia.

Job Responsibilities: Interns will be involved in a variety of activities including: devising project-based curriculum, lesson planning, research and execution, development and design of student worksheets, as well as assist staff in special events.

Specific to Community Volunteer Coordinator: Help with overall volunteer outreach including basic administrative support tasks and additional responsibilities as necessary.  Interns are expected to participate in daily activities, contribute skills and ideas, and produce high quality work. Additional responsibilities and tasks will be assigned as needed.

Qualifications: Current undergraduate or graduate student.  Background in the arts, education and knowledge of basic computer software-i.e. MS Word, MS Excel. Team-player, creative thinker, and excellent verbal and written communication skills.  Proficiency with a wide range of social media, highly organized, self-starter, and ability to multi-task. Interest in Non-profits and Arts-Education.
