Astraea Foundation for Lesbian Justice Accepting Applications for International Fund

The Astraea Foundation for Lesbian Justice supports lesbian, trans*, intersex, and LGBTQI groups that promote racial, economic, and gender justice and mobilize communities to challenge oppression. The foundation supports groups in the United States, primarily led by LGBTQI people of color, and groups across the globe with flexible general support. Because social change takes time, Astraea aims to build long-term partnerships with organizations.

The foundation is accepting Letters of Intent to its International Fund, which supports groups led by LGBTQI individuals working to create progressive social change, address oppression based on sexual orientation and/or gender identity and expression, and advance racial, economic, and gender justice.

Grants range between $5,000 and $30,000 per year.

To be eligible, applicants must be based in Africa, Asia/the Pacific, Eastern Europe/Commonwealth of Independent States, Latin America/the Caribbean, or the Middle East; be led by an LGBTQI individual(s); be doing work aimed at driving long-term social change on issues affecting LGBTQI people and/or people who are penalized, persecuted, or harassed for their gender identity, gender expression, and/or sexual orientation; be a governmental agency, nonprofit organization, or the equivalent, with an organizational budget of $500,000 or less; and have been active for at least a year at the time of application.

Letters of Intent must be received no later than July 31, 2016. Upon review, selected applicants will be invited to submit a full application.

For complete program guidelines and application procedures, see the Astraea Foundation website.

DEADLINE: JULY 31, 2016 (LETTERS OF INTENT)
