Instructor Job Description

A Math Learning Center in Philadelphia, Mathnasium of Andorra (just north of Manayunk and Roxborough in the Andorra Shopping Center), has part-time openings for highly skilled and motivated Instructors who have strong math backgrounds and love working with children of all ages. Knowledge of Everyday Math is a plus. Comfort levels with math through Algebra II, preferably Calculus, is a must.

This is not one on one tutoring (although due to scheduling, it may turn out to be), so being able to manage up to 4 students at one time is key. Also, being able to redirect when the child is not understanding the topic at hand is critical. Managerial opportunities await those who show leadership qualities. Instructors must be open to learning a new way to present math to students as well. This is a great opportunity for current education majors or new instructors who are interested in learning great methods to explain an often confusing subject.

The center hours are Monday through Thursday 3-8pm, Friday 3-6pm and Saturdays 10am-2pm. Instructors don’t have to be available for all days and times, but ideally any day from 3pm or afterward. Because we work with young people, all three clearances (Criminal, Child Abuse and FBI) are required for employment.

Please email resumes, whether you have clearances and a short blurb explaining why you are the best candidate to andorra@mathnasium.com.
