help Germantown win national preservation award

Posted by Germantown United Community Development Corporation on October 16, 2017

On behalf of the Germantown United Community Development Corporation, I’m excited to inform you that Germantown is a finalist in a nationwide voting competition to win a vital historic preservation grant. The program is presented by the National Trust for Historic Preservation, in conjunction with National Geographic and American Express.

Germantown is the only finalist in Philadelphia and the entire state of Pennsylvania in the running to receive up to $150,000 in grant funding, which will be used to restore two significant 20th-century African-American historic sites, 5706 and 5801 Germantown Avenue, Parker Hall and John Trower’s building, respectively. The history of both buildings dates to the 1870s.

We have until October 31st to secure as many votes as possible at http://VoteYourMainStreet.org/Germantown, and your help is crucial to make sure Philadelphia wins this grant.
