Health Promotions Coordinator

The SafeGuards Project, a community health promotion agency, seeks a full time professional to coordinate development, implementation and evaluation of health promotion and disease prevention programs focusing on Philadelphia?s LGBT population. The coordinator will oversee HIV prevention efforts aimed at men that have sex with men including the planning, implementation, staff supervision, and process evaluation functions. The coordinator will also work with staff to provide quality, current health and medical education for the LGBT Health Resource Center website (www.lgbthealthresource.org) and the provider training series. In addition the coordinator assist the Directors in developing new programming and seeking appropriate funding for new programs.

Key Responsibilities

Community Health Programming

 Help develop, plan, implement, and evaluate health prevention/promotion programs for sexual minority communities.
 Help seek appropriate funding sources and complete grant applications for programs.
 Establish collaborations with other city and community health agencies and academic institutions to partner on LGBT health projects.
 Coordinate/manage HIV individual level intervention.

Supervision & Staffing

 Recruit student interns.
 Hire, train, and supervise community health workers and student interns.

Web based Health Education

 Complete literature reviews regarding health topics relevant to sexual minority communities.
 Write relevant and sensitive LGBT health education materials for website.
 Work with Communications Manager to manage website.

Healthcare Provider Trainings
 Complete provider training materials
 Coordinate provider training pilot testing
 Facilitate health care provider training scheduling
 Coordinate Healthy Futures Committee

Qualifications

Masters in social / behavioral sciences, or health sciences, Bachelor level candidates with 3+ years experience in a community health may apply. Require experience in the application of health behavior theories, grant writing, program planning and implementation. Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to multi-task; and ability to work independently needed. Experience working with LGBT communities and/or in HIV prevention preferred.
