Spectrum Health Services Inc. is a nonprofit community health agency whose mission is to provide comprehensive primary care health services, health education and social services to more than 12,000 low income Philadelphians. The agency is seeking to immediately hire a Licensed Registered Dietician to provide Health Education services at its facility. A Health Educator in primary care settings is a growing field that supports the integration of nutrition and healthcare with primary care in a “medical home” model. The ideal candidate should have a strong interest in community health and be comfortable with motivating behavior change in clients who present with dual diagnoses, co-morbidities, and severe socioeconomic challenges. The candidate should also be comfortable in working directly with a medical staff of doctors, nurses and physicians assistants; as well as have an interest in learning basic medical terminology. Because integrated and collaborative care in primary care settings is relatively new, prior work experience in this model is not required.
