For Biology and Life Science Teachers,

On Saturday, January 21 (snow date January 28), 9-12 AM, our PD will include:

  • Were the babies switched? – The Genetics of Blood Types (a hands-on activity for teaching Keystone BIO.B.2.1)
  • From Gene to Protein via Transcription and Translation (an analysis and discussion activity for teaching Keystone BIO.B.2.2)
  • A talk by Dr. Scott Poethig, Department of Biology, University of Pennsylvania, on a topic related to the genetics of plant development

On Saturday, February 25 (snow date March 4, 9-12 AM, our PD will include:

  • Dr. Timothy Linksvayer, Assistant Professor of Biology, University of Pennsylvania, The Evolution of Social Behavior in Ants

We will provide supplies for the hands-on activity to participating Philadelphia and Upper Darby teachers. In about a month, we will send a message with more specific information and the link to the form to sign up for the January PD.

Meanwhile, we hope you will share this information with other teachers who may be interested. Please encourage interested teachers to sign up for our PD listserv so they will receive subsequent announcements. To sign up for the listserv, go to https://groups.google.com/forum/?fromgroups#!forum/biology-pd; please give a reason for signing up (so we will know you are a real person and not an automated program).
