Frances Fox Piven at Bryn Mawr School of Social Work

Frances Fox Piven, Distinguished Professor of Political Science and Sociology, at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York, will speak Tuesday, December 10th, 4:00-5:10 pm, at the Bryn Mawr College Graduate School of Social Work and Social Research, in the Katherine Lower Lounge (upstairs). The title of her talk is: “Why Good Social Work is Advocacy.” She will be discussing the still very much timely essay she co-authored with Richard Cloward entitled “Notes Toward a Radical Social Work,” in Radical Social Work, Roy Bailey and Mike Brake, eds. (New York: Pantheon, 1975), pp. vii-xlviii.

The talk is offered as part of the new advocacy concentration in the Masters program at the Graduate School and is open to the public.
