Application Process Open for Environmental Leadership Program Fellowships
Deadline: October 1, 2004

The Environmental Leadership Program (<a href="http://www.elpnet.org/">http://www.elpnet.org/</a>) seeks to transform public understanding of environmental issues by training and supporting a diverse network of visionary, action- oriented leaders.

The centerpiece of ELP’s work is the ELP Fellowship, a national program designed to build the leadership capacity of the environmental field’s most promising emerging professionals from the United States, U.S. territories, and freely associated states.

Applicants for the ELP Fellowship must commit to participating in four retreats over the two-year course of the program. In addition, each fellow will have the opportunity to conduct a leadership building project of their design with funding of up to $10,000 from the ELP Activity Fund. Fellows also will have the opportunity to participate in optional activities throughout the year, including in-depth training workshops, distance-learning courses, individual consultation with trainers, discussion groups, and networking events with other fellows. Fellows are expected to continue their professional jobs or studies during the fellowship period.

To be eligible, applicants must have approximately three to ten years of work experience or post-undergraduate academic studies related to environmental issues; have demonstrated talent as a practitioner or scholar; be able to articulate a clear understanding of how their specialized work fits into complex social, economic, and environmental issues; and be residents of the United States or U.S. territories or freely associated states (U.S. citizenship not required).

See the ELP Web site for complete fellowship requirements, application procedures, and answers to frequently asked questions.
