Job Description: Environmental Intervention Coordinator
Philadelphia Department of Public Health

Overview
The Environmental Intervention Coordinator position is located within the Division of Chronic Disease Prevention of the Philadelphia Department of Public Health (PDPH). The Environmental Intervention Coordinator reports to the Chronic Disease Intervention Manager. The Coordinator is responsible for developing, conducting and coordinating environmental interventions related to the Steps to a Healthier Philadelphia Initiative (STEPS) and the Osteoporosis, Physical Activity, Nutrition and Cardiovascular (OPANAC) grant. These interventions are targeted to schools, daycare agencies, workplaces, healthcare systems, and residential communities.

Responsibilities
? Conduct chronic disease interventions for STEPS and OPANAC
? Facilitate and coordinate the Healthy Environment Collaborative
? Collect environmentally related information and prepare public dissemination materials for the HEC website
? Prepare and disseminate monthly HEC newsletter
? Conduct health impact assessments
? Facilitate development of environment change plans
? Prepare environment change plans
? Coordinate with the Community Intervention Coordinator, OPANAC Coordinator, School Health Coordinator, chronic disease interventions conducted by Division of Chronic Disease Prevention
? Collect data on chronic disease interventions conducted by Division
? Prepare weekly summaries and monthly reports on interventions
? Develop and maintain good working relationships with external entities (e.g. schools, daycare agencies, workplaces, health systems, residential communities, neighborhood groups, advocacy groups, etc.) for conducting interventions
? Working with external entities to conduct environmental interventions (e.g. assessing buildings for point-of-decision prompt installation, installing point-of-decision prompts, collect data on use of stairs pre and post installation, and so on).
? Maintain regular contact with PDPH and City managers to coordinate interventions and resolve programmatic issues; represent the division at department level committees

Requirements
? Masters in Public Health, Health Education, Environmental Health, Community Health or related area
? 3 years of progressively responsible experience in public health programming
? 2 years conducting public health interventions

Salary ? high-40s to low-50s
