EducationWorks AmeriCorps Opportunities

Would you like to help shape the future? Our AmeriCorps national service programs focus on the education and safety of children and youth in Philadelphia. Through year-long programming, EducationWorks provides services to youth, parents, community members and school staff including school-time academic support, after school programs, technology support, family literacy, workforce development and school and community safety support.Serve for a summer, a semester or a year!

EducationWorks is now accepting applications for people willing to make a year- long commitment (some shorter terms are also available)  as AmeriCorps members. Positions are available for Beacon Center facilitators, High School Math and Literacy Assistants, and Early Learning Center Assistant Lead Teachers. Make a commitment to serve 40 hours a week with children, youth and families during school and out-of-school time programs, drawing on your skills and interests and building theirs. You’ll receive a $11,100 stipend, a $4,725 education award, training, childcare reimbursement, and health insurance.

EducationWorks is also accepting applications for our Summer Camp Counselor position, an exciting opportunity to spend a summer providing an enjoyable and dynamic camp experience for children and youth throughout Philadelphia. Camp counselors will be AmeriCorps members who will begin their term of service with Pre-Service Training starting on June 15, 2009 and will serve through August 14, 2009.  This position requires a commitment of 40 hours a week to earn the $800 biweekly stipend and the $1000 education award upon completion. High school diploma or equivalent and experience leading groups of youth required.
