Kessler Foundation Invites New Jersey Organizations to Apply for Disability Employment Grant Program
Deadline: March 27, 2006

The Mission of the Henry H. Kessler Foundation (<a href="http://www.hhkfdn.org/">http://www.hhkfdn.org/</a>) is to improve the lives of people with physical disabilities.

The foundation’s Community Employment Grant Program supports projects, programs, pilot initiatives, and creative solutions designed to improve the employment and career advancement of New Jersey citizens with disabilities. Special priority is given to projects that primarily serve individuals with physical disabilities (65 percent of the project population). The grant range is $25,000 to $75,000 for a one-year grant, beginning in October 2006. Organizations may apply for either project/program funds or general operating funds.

The following list outlines areas of interest to the Kessler Foundation: programs that focus on transition to work for youth and adults; transportation to and from work; workplace accommodations; overcoming barriers to employment, such as access to assistive technology, providing accessible facilities and services, and employee education on disabilities; equipment and training programs focusing on workplace preparation; vocational training; supported employment programs; mentoring; school-based enterprises; work-based learning; alternative work solutions, telecommuting; employment strategies to support disability recruitment, hiring practices, placement, and retention; and programs serving veterans with disabilities.

Other related projects or programs may be considered and/or funded at the discretion of foundation trustees.

The Kessler Foundation makes grants to nonprofit organizations that are tax-exempt under the Internal Revenue codes.
