Director of Recruitment and Selection, School District of Philadelphia

The Director for Recruitment and Selection directs and oversees through subordinate staff the recruitment, selection, hiring and onboarding for District employees hired as instructional leaders, teachers, school-based professionals, support staff and central office staff.

Essential Functions

  • Plans, directs and coordinates through subordinate staff, the daily activities of staff engaged in the recruitment, selection and hiring of District employees; oversees all processes for all prospective candidates; builds a substantive effective dashboard that can drive the team’s work.
  • Manages the Recruitment and Selection team; monitors their accountability in the performance of activities such as the recruitment and hiring of effective employees that will drive student outcomes in the District.
  • Works closely with the Directors for Talent Partners and for the Talent Specialists to ensure that matrixed teams are consistently meeting the talent needs of the team’s designated network.
  • Ensures that the team works effectively in a matrixed team environment to meet their designated networks hiring and talent goals.
  • Supports the product launch of software solutions that will enable Talent Support Services to achieve its strategic goals.
  • Analyzes departmental processes and builds, monitors and improves the processes and procedures; recommends, implements and evaluates appropriate changes and ensures that the changes meet the District’s needs.
  • Prepares monthly statistics and quarterly management reports and ensures that the information is disseminated to the appropriate administrators.
  • Serves in an advisory capacity to administrative personnel, Assistant Superintendents, Principals and District staff; manages multiple and complex talent issues simultaneously.
  • Manages special projects as required.
  • Represents the Office of Talent at meetings, conferences and other functions as needed.
  • Facilitates idea generating sessions and action plans with stakeholders in the schools, and central office.
