Director of Professional Development

This newly created role will coordinate the development and implementation of a strategic system of capacity-building and exemplary practices for Philadelphia Safe and Sound, committed to improve the health, safety and well being of children throughout the region, in after-school and youth development programs. To be successful, this Director of Program Development and Strategic Support will be cognizant of child development, educational reform, learning communities and organizational development. By leading the transformation into a coherent network of providers, s/he will create opportunities for professional development, problem solving and the institution of best practices. Since its inception, this independent nonprofit organization has grown dramatically in scope, with a $40M budget, funded through foundation and corporate support.

Requirements:
. Demonstrated knowledge of methods to expand developmental opportunities
and raise educational performance.
. Experience in design and implementation of professional development
systems of diverse populations; experience with assessment systems for social service programs.
. Understanding of model proven practices and strategies for improvement in staff competencies and program effectiveness.
. Master’s level, with five years’ minimum experience in education reform,
child development, staff training, organizational development or learning
communities.
. Project management encompassing program complexity, fiscal oversight, and technology.
