The Franklin Institute, the most visited museum in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, seeks a senior level professional as its Director of Individual Giving. Reporting to the Vice President of External Affairs, the Director of Individual Giving is responsible for the strategic management of fundraising from individuals through Membership, the Benefactor Society, the Annual Fund, the Trustee Annual Giving Campaign and fundraising events. The director provides strategic direction and long-range/short-range planning for all individual annual giving programs while supporting the greater development and campaign goals of the Institute. The position develops a coordinated matrix of communication and solicitation strategies involving email, direct mail, phone/mail, personal visitation, and volunteer engagement, all focused on shaping a sustainable tradition of annual support. This position is accountable for meeting and exceeding total revenue goals in the range of $5-6 million annually, and continuously growing and diversifying the supporter base.

The Director of Individual Giving works independently and closely with institutional leadership including the Board Chair, Development and Government Relations Committee Chair, President and CEO, Trustees, programmatic vice presidents, and other key volunteers. The position supervises five professional employees in meeting and exceeding established goals for all individual giving program areas.

Requires a Bachelor’s Degree and seven years related experience in development with a specific focus on membership and individual giving programs or an equivalent combination of education and experience is crucial, as is experience supervising professional staff. Experience in developing and implementing sophisticated strategies for donor/volunteer involvement is preferred. Excellent communication skills essential.
