The Director of Electronic Communications is a creative, visionary, and strategic leader who serves as the brand manager and editor-in-chief of Temple’s Web presence. Specific responsibilities include:
– Managing communications strategy, design, content, and navigation scheme of http://www.temple.edu and first-level links from the home page.
– Developing and enforcing appropriate university-wide Web policies and requirements, such as graphic identity standards and global navigation elements, and directing the design and content of websites.
– Initiating, directing, and overseeing major projects with a staff of one Web developer in consultation with external vendors, colleagues in Computer Services, Creative Services, News Communications, Admissions, and other offices.
– Advising on best practices, providing Web marketing and communications counsel across the university, and helping guide efforts to optimize Temple’s Web presence.

Requirements:
– Bachelor’s degree.
– 6 years experience in a deadline-driven environment implementing websites and in communications/marketing roles that include significant Web experience.
– Experience in information architecture and usability, HTML, CSS, and emerging Web technologies is a plus.
– Best practices knowledge related to emerging technologies, trends, and associated tools and must have experience implementing websites.
– Familiarity with HTML, XML, CSS, and open source environments such as Drupal and WordPress.
– Supervision and mentoring of one Web developer with the expectation of growing the unit commensurate with demand and opportunity.
– Demonstrated experience with SEO, Web analytics, and applying social media strategy.
