Change Lives with the Power of Your Passion and Fundraising Talent

As we at ACHIEVEability get set to celebrate our 30th anniversary, we have a fabulous opportunity for a dynamic and seasoned professional fundraiser to help us make the most of this moment in our history, build a solid foundation for our fundraising, and then lead our organization to new heights. Our search will continue until we find our right match.

ACHIEVEability, the Philadelphia Foundation’s 2006 Good Governance Awardee and the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce’s 2004 Nonprofit of the Year, is seeking a person of integrity and achievement to be its Director of Development and lead its fundraising and marketing efforts.

Our Director of Development has the challenge and privilege of raising consciousness and money to foster strong neighborhoods and help low income families break the generational cycle of poverty and achieve long-term self-sufficiency through programs in human services, education, affordable housing, community and economic development and technology.

Desired Characteristics: Must be well-rounded, passionate, compassionate, empathetic, creative, flexible and results-oriented. Demonstrated success required, at levels commensurate to ACHIEVEability’s goals, with a focus on gift solicitation from individuals and family foundations and corporations.

Preferred areas of expertise include annual giving, prospecting, major gifts, bequests, donor recognition and stewardship, capital campaigns, endowment campaigns, special events, direct mail, planned giving, marketing and public relations, social networking and other electronic tools for fundraising and PR, and volunteer management.  Grantsmanship expertise is a plus.

Must have excellent writing and presentation skills, computer skills (Microsoft Office required, Raiser’s Edge a plus), leadership, supervisory and relationship-building skills. Must be able to multi-task and work independently and as part of a team. Must be able to work nights and weekends if necessary. Must have at least five years experience in development (fundraising and PR), with at least three years in a one to three person development department, and/or at least eight years experience in nonprofit management or business development; sales experience helpful; valid driver’s license, insurance and vehicle available for use at work; clean criminal, child abuse, motor vehicle driving records and drug test. We offer a competitive salary and benefits. We have friendly, helpful and talented staff to work with.

To Apply: Please e-mail to employment@achieve-ability.org the following items: (1) your resume; (2) a copy of a grant proposal or sales/business proposal that you wrote; and (3) a cover letter stating (a) how you found out about this position, (b) your salary requirement, and (c) your philosophy regarding helping disenfranchised families; and (4) References – 2 peers, 2 supervisees and 2 supervisors.
