Position Summary for the Development Director

Finding The Right Person

We are looking for the right person to join the leadership team of Habitat for Humanity of Montgomery County and bring a sense of passion, humor and team based resource development. Responsibilities: Lead and manage the overall fundraising initiatives. Develop and implement a major gift fundraising program. Oversee a variety of special events and other donor-related strategic partnerships. Assess current development processes and procedures and, where necessary, design and implement new development systems to efficiently support the development operation and enhance the donor experience. Supervise and mentor the fundraising team, and provide leadership, inspiration, accountability, and opportunities for professional growth. Use all aspects of technology to speak “a new generation” of development. Oversee all grant, foundations and corporate donations.

Skills and Experience Preferred
– Experience of 4-6 years in raising funds for a non-profit organization
– Firm understanding of fund development concepts and principles
– Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
– Experience in supervising others or leading a team
– Experience in motivating and coaching volunteers
– Demonstrated ability to communicate with authority and integrity
– Computer literate, with demonstrated experience in Word, Excel and common non-profit database software programs.
