Background
Founded in 1972, PEC is a comprehensive homeless services provider and experienced nonprofit community development agency based in West Philadelphia.   The agency employs nearly 80 staff to serve its community and constituents through social services, counseling, case management, commercial corridor revitalization, community organizing, and quality affordable rental housing.   Currently in the throes of a strategic planning process, PEC is looking for dynamic, motivated, and talented individuals to join its team and help lay the foundation for the agency’s next phase of growth.

Qualifications:
    Must have a high school diploma or GED; Associate’s degree is preferred
    Minimum of two years experience in a secretarial position or a combination of education, training, and experience which provides the desired knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the position’s essential duties and responsibilities
    Excellent organizational skills
    Strong written and oral communication skills
    Sensitivity to, and experience with low-income populations
    Proficiency with: MS Office, specifically Access and Excel, CWDS, KRONOS and CAPS
    Knowledge of records management procedures
    Carry out multiple tasks and meet deadlines
    Detail oriented and possess skill in ten-key by touch

Reports to:    Director, Center for Employment and Training

Responsibilities:
The Data Clerk will work closely with the employment and training and compliance teams to ensure program related data entry is submitted timely and in compliance with PEC’s and regulatory requirements.  The Data Clerk will receive, review, and enter data into computer system or tracking database according to established procedures. He/she will ensure accuracy of all data recorded and perform database maintenance functions.

Duties include:
    Maintain received data and source documents.
    Prepare and sorts source documents; identify and interpret data to be entered.
    Contact preparers of source documents to resolve questions, inconsistencies, or missing data.
    Data entry on the Participant Information System of private client information. Enter alphabetic, numeric, or symbolic data from source documents into computer following format displayed on screen, and enter necessary codes.
    Confirm accuracy of data such demographic information, days, dates, times, locations, and client activities.
    Compare data entered with source documents, or reenter data in verification format on screen to detect errors.
    Review and makes necessary corrections to information entered.
    Compile, sort, and verify accuracy of data to be entered.
    Assist in establishing and maintaining an effective and efficient records management system.
    Generate reports and respond to inquiries regarding entered data as requested.
    Contribute to a team effort and accomplish related results as required.
    Maintain confidential information.
    As needed perform general clerical duties such as typing, answering phones, etc.
