Credit Path Seminar for Community Development Practitioners

Posted by on February 6, 2004

Alternatives Federal Credit Union is pleased to announce its second Credit Path Seminar for Community Development Practitioners.

Testimonials from the first session:
“I feel like I learned so much! It was a very uplifting experience to see your operation and the depth of quality and alignment to mission throughout.”
“Usually conferences are a drag. Yours was not. Thank you, Thank you!”
“I was impressed with the level of involvement of the staff.”
“Everyone was great. I really appreciated that this was clearly a professional development opportunity for folks and the level to which they had obviously been supported in developing polished presentations was obvious.”

The Credit Path (http://www.alternatives.org/creditpath.html) as originally developed as a way of understanding our members’ financial situations, to enable Alternatives to incorporate the needs of our low income members into our business planning. The Path describes where people are situated at various points along a continuum between poverty and self-sufficiency. Our mission, as a community development financial institution, is to help our members move along that continuum by empowering them to make decisions, and offering opportunities, that will move them towards financial self-sufficiency.

We have created a two day event to share our work with our peers. The agenda includes an overview of Alternatives’ strategic approach, organizational structure, and program development. Break out sessions will allow participants to study programs that most interest them. The seminar concludes with a tour of the community that will give participants the chance to meet Alternatives’ members and see how our work translates into action.
