The Children’s Education and Activities Program Coordinator implements and oversees educational, recreational and social activities provided by the Center for Parenting and Early Childhood Education at People’s Emergency Center. Provides clinical observations, referrals for early intervention services and child-centered assistance, as needed, to children and caregivers.

  • Lead daily Parent-Child Interaction workshops with parents and children, with an emphasis on social-emotional development and attachment
  • Develop and implement themes and activities for children in the CPECE program
  • Conduct clinical observations of the children in CPECE, regarding their social, emotional and developmental health and well-being and make referrals for intervention services, as needed
  • Meet with parents, case managers, and other PEC staff, as appropriate, to review assessments and clinical observations
  • Conduct Ages and Stages Assessment on all eligible PEC residents, age 24 months to 5 years, to ensure appropriate child development and linkage to early intervention services
  • Develop relationships with community-based, infant mental health and early childhood/children’s resources, and link families to services, as needed
  • Assist in facilitating and coordinating after school programs and related activities for children.
  • Oversees planning of periodic special events and recreational activities
  • Assist with the distribution of children’s program in-kind assistance, including gifts, clothing and children’s supplies
  • Coordinate “Together We Play” activities and interventions
  • Maintain client records, program records and other administrative tasks, as assigned

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling or Early Childhood
  • Education Three years’ experience in a social service setting

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling or Early Childhood Education
  • 5 years’ experience working with homeless adults and children
