Community Women?s Education Project 30th Anniversary Gala

The Community Women?s Education Project (CWEP), a community-based education organization, will celebrate its 30th anniversary and honor four local women for their contributions to the Philadelphia community at its anniversary gala, ?Investing in the Future of Women,? on March 22, 2007, 5:30-7:30 pm, at the Ben Franklin Hall at the American Philosophical Society, 427 Chestnut Street. The event will include a cocktail reception, silent auction, awards presentation and debut of the organization?s new video. CWEP was founded in 1977 to help address the economic and social inequities that affect at-risk families and communities of eastern North Philadelphia. For 30 years it has served as a gateway to self-sufficiency for vulnerable adults who are facing the challenges of low literacy skills, learning disabilities, failure in school and work, mental health issues, and drug and alcohol use. Women of Distinction Award honorees include: Charisse Lillie, Comcast Corporation; Lt. Commander Susan Slawson, Police Athletic League; Carole Smith, Mayor?s Commission on Technology; and Cheryl Gardiner, Enigma and CWEP alumna. Alexis Moore will serve as mistress of ceremonies.

The event is open to the public. Tickets are $50. For reservations please call Chrissie Phillips at 215.426.2200 or cphillips@cwep.org.
