DEADLINE NOTE
The sponsor will continue to review letters of inquiry throughout the year but prospective grantees should be aware that the reviewing of proposals and grantmaking will be by issue area. The deadline for letters of inquiry and/or renewal applications for Environmental Justice is December 1, 2004; for Economic Justice is March 15, 2005; and for Civil Rights is July 15, 2005.

OBJECTIVES:
The sponsor supports efforts that may: promote economic justice and development through community organizing; work to prevent the disposal of toxics in communities, and to link environmental issues with economic and social justice; and promote civil rights by fighting discrimination and violence and working for equity. In pursuing systematic change, the sponsor would hope that: the proposed action may serve as a model; the spread of the model may create institutions that can survive on their own; and that their establishment and
success may generate beneficial adaptations by other political, social and economic institutions and structures.

ELIGIBILITY
Grant-making is restricted to U.S.-based organizations.

FUNDING
The sponsor provides grants for general support, projects, and collaborative efforts. Innovative proposals designed to build the capacity of social change organizations working within the sponsor’s areas of interest are also welcomed.
