As you may be aware by now, this year’s American Public Health Association’s (APHA) Annual Meeting has been rescheduled to Philadelphia, PA, December 10-14, 2005. Please visit the APHA website (http://www.apha.org) for updates on the new location, housing, registration, airline and what APHA is doing to support the victims of Hurricane Katrina.

For those who had already registered for the Annual Meeting in New Orleans, all registrations will automatically be transferred and applicable for the new December 10-14, 2005 dates in Philadelphia. Anyone who has not registered may still take advantage of the discounted full registration fees that have been extended until November 4, 2005.

The ASPH/CDC Examining Community-Institutional Partnerships for Prevention Research Group has been invited by APHA to offer a continuing education institute (CEI) on CBPR partnerships at the meeting. The CEI is offered in partnership with the APHA Caucus on Community-Based Public Health.

The CEI is the first part of a two-part CEI on CBPR. The first CEI, entitled “Community-Based Participatory Research (Part I): Developing and Sustaining Partnerships for Community-based Participatory Research,” will be presented on Saturday afternoon, December 10th, 2005. The second CEI, entitled “Community-Based Participatory Research (Part 2): Working with Communities to Interpret and Analyze Data and Get to Outcomes,” is scheduled for Sunday morning, December 11th, 2005.

For more information about the CEI and to register, please visit http://www.apha.org/meetings/continuing_ed.htm#CEIs. Please note that it is possible to register and pay for the CEIs as “stand alone” events without registering for the APHA annual meeting.

The Community-Campus Partnerships for Health (CCPH) Member Guide to the American Public Health Association (APHA) conference is now available at http://www.ccph.info (see “coming up”). The guide is your “cheat sheet” of sessions on community-campus partnerships, community-based participatory research, service-learning and related topics!

We look forward to seeing you at the meeting in New Orleans. CCPH shares an exhibit booth (#1915) at the conference with the Community Health Scholars Program. Please stop by to introduce yourself!
