American Association of University Women Offers Community Action Grants
Deadline: January 15, 2004

A funding initiative of the American Association of University Women (http://www.aauw.org/) Educational Foundation, the Community Action Grants program is designed to provide seed money to individual women, AAUW branches, AAUW state organizations, and community-based nonprofit organizations.

Community Action Grants provide start-up funds for longer-term programs and are restricted to projects focused on K-14 (including two-year colleges) girls’ achievement in math, science, and/or technology. Funds support planning activities, coalition building, program implementation, and evaluation. In 2004-2005, only two-year grants will be awarded. Grants will be made in the amount of $5,000 to $10,000.

Applicants must be women who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents. Grant projects must have direct public impact, be nonpartisan, and take place within the U.S. or its territories.

See the AAUW Web site for complete program guidelines and eligibility requirements as well as information on past Community Action Grants awarded by the foundation.
