Neighborhood Interfaith Movement (NIM), Philadelphia, seeks a Communications & Advocacy Coordinator to direct Early Childhood Education advocacy efforts, create the structure for ongoing advocacy work on issues of concern to NIM and the communities it serves, and assist in implementation of a multi-pronged communications plan which includes media, government and congregational relations.

Coordinate advocacy efforts for both ELA and NW programs
Develop, along with NW/Development Director, Communication strategy and calendar, to be coordinated with Development calendar

Mobilize existing NIM supporters to advocate on behalf of social justice issues, with an emphasis on NIM areas of expertise
Assist in building relationships with elected officials and government agencies
Create community educational events and mobilize participation in them

While it would be preferable to find someone with a background in working with children and a fluency in Spanish or another language prevalent among immigrants in Philadelphia, the individual with solid skills as described above would probably have experience gaining expertise in new issues and in overcoming language barriers.
