About the Institute

Why is an Institute on Collaboration in Higher Education needed? The significant positive impact of consortia and other collaboration-based organizations on American higher education over the past 50 years has resulted not only from the hard work and creativity of the leaders of these institutions and the commitment of institutional and private resources, but also from the willingness of these leaders to share their experiences and “lessons learned” through relatively informal channels. While this has been an effective way of training generations of leaders when both the number of these institutions and their size was small, the growth in number, size, and amount of senior staff positions of these institutions calls for a more structured, formalized approach to the training of leaders to incorporate both research and practice.

Apply to attend by April 11, 2014.
