CLEAN ENERGY ORGANIZING INTERNSHIPS

ORGANIZATION: Energy Justice Network, a project of ActionPA.org, is a networking resource for those working to promote clean energy and to stop dirty energy technologies of all kinds. We are currently working on promoting clean, renewable energy legislation in Pennsylvania and Virginia, while supporting the efforts of grassroots community organizations to stop proposals for new polluting power plants.

JOB DESCRIPTION: Interns will begin work ASAP and continue until Thanksgiving. [Longer-term internships and internships starting in January are also available.] They will live and work in Philadelphia, PA at the Action Center, where they will work closely with full-time grassroots activists, outreaching to student and community environmental groups to participate in statewide advocacy for clean energy.

HOURS REQUIRED: Full-time.

COMPENSATION: Full room and board, plus a $50/week stipend.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS REQUIRED: Interns should have excellent communication and computer skills. Research and writing skills are also important. Interest in energy, waste or toxics issues, and any volunteer activist experience is a plus.

OPPORTUNITY TO LEARN: Interns will be exposed to many issues surrounding energy and waste technologies and related policy matters as well as exposure to grassroots community activism and legislative process. The internship includes access to great resources, networking opportunities, and connections to leaders in this field.
