THE CREATIVE TECHWORKS DESIGN STUDIO PRESENTS THE FIRST EVER CITY STREETS: RACE THROUGH HISTORY™: PHILADELPHIA WEARABLE TECH RACE THROUGH THE CITY

Tech Teams of All Ages and Backgrounds Will Pound the Pavement On Foot, Bike and Public Transportation Using a Special App and Wearable Tech On a Race Throughout Philadelphia

On April 25th, the Creative TechWorks Design Studio (CTWDS) kicks off its first ever City Streets: Race Through History™: Philadelphia tech-fueled fundraising race throughout the city. Teams from around the region will use a coded app and engineered wearable tech to locate clues on a four-mile route that begins in North Philadelphia and continues through neighborhoods across the city. The race aims to encourage smart, young people of color to embrace STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) as a viable career path. Equally important urban youth use this opportunity to apply technology while becoming civically engaged.

The race begins at 8:00 am at 15th Street and Cecil B. Moore Avenue, in the parking lot of Beech Interplex, and ends in Center City (at a secret location). To register or sponsor, please visit: http://creativetechworks.org/register/.

Stephen Pettus, a freshman at Temple University and CTWDS Tech Lead Instructor, has been working with Dr. Bracey since high school and is now helping develop the mobile apps and wearables that will be used in the race. “I’ve been able to meet different people in my field who have taught me a lot about tech. I’m nineteen years old and I have other people looking up to me – I’m striving to work hard to be worth that adoration,” laughed Pettus.

City Streets: Race Through History™: Philadelphia is sponsored by AT&T, Worcreation, LLC, Prestige Concepts, LLC, Little Giant Media and presented in partnership with the City of Philadelphia and Beech Community Services, Inc.
