Sodexo Foundation and Youth Service America Invite Applications for Childhood Hunger Volunteer Project Lead Organizers
Deadline: July 15, 2011

The Sodexo Foundation and Youth Service America are accepting applications from organizations across the U.S. interested in serving as 2011-12 Sodexo Lead Organizers.

Sodexo Lead Organizers will work with partner organizations to engage at least six hundred youth volunteers (age 5 to 25) in learning about and addressing the issue of childhood hunger in their communities, beginning during Hunger & Homelessness Awareness Week (November 14-20, 2011) and continuing through Global Youth Service Day (April 20-22, 2012). Lead organizers will also build new partnerships in their community and work to increase public awareness about the issue of hunger and young people’s role in solving the problem. Finally, they will report on their efforts to YSA and document effective strategies for engaging youth in addressing childhood hunger.

Selected applicants will each receive a $2,000 planning grant; travel and lodging for the 2011 Youth Service Institute (October 24-26, 2011) in Philadelphia; and ongoing networking opportunities as well as training and technical assistance from YSA.

The grant program is open to U.S. organizations only.

Visit the YSA Web site for complete program guidelines, examples of previously funded projects, and application procedures.
