COME JOIN US FOR THE CENTER FOR COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS’
10th ANNIVERSARY INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE!

As you know, the Center for Community Partnerships is hosting an International Conference on “Universities, Communities and Schools: Partners for Effective Education, Community Building and Democracy” on April 7-8, 2003 as part of our 10th anniversary celebration. Bringing together American and international colleagues from higher education, K-12 education, community- and faith-based organizations along with leaders from government and philanthropy, the conference will provide two-days of dialogue on the critical issues in creating, implementing and sustaining mutually beneficial partnerships — partnerships that help realize in practice the democratic mission of American higher education and American society-indeed the democratic mission of higher education and societies throughout the world. Over the two-day event, thematic panels, breakout sessions, site visits, and keynote addresses will focus on significant themes such as: Health & Nutrition, Arts & Culture, Poverty & Race, Democratic Education, Schools & Schooling, Math, Science & Technology, and much more.

The conference will attract an audience that will include (1) Penn faculty and students as well as national and international scholars; (2) K-12 educators and community leaders from West Philadelphia/Philadelphia and nationally, as well as from Europe, Canada, Australia and South Africa, and (3) university presidents and other civic leaders.

If you have not yet received a copy of the conference brochure please check out the Center’s web site at
