Camp Mariposa, Male Mentors Needed – Fall 2021

Posted by Jewish Family & Children's Service on June 8, 2021

Beginning this fall, Jewish Family & Children’s Service of Greater Philadelphia (JFCS) will be running a local Camp Mariposa, a camp for children ages 9-12 who have been affected by the substance abuse of a loved one. The camp will take place on six different weekends (one every other month) over the course of a year at a year-round (all-weather) site in Quakertown, PA. There will be professional social workers on staff to provide counseling, but much of the schedule over the weekends will be filled with traditional camp activities like hiking and arts & crafts.

We are looking for male mentors (18+) to join us for a minimum of four of the weekends, mentoring and connecting with the campers. Mentors will be staying overnight in the cabins with the kids (as a camp counselor would), and must pass child abuse clearances and a criminal background check, and will be paid $500 for each weekend. This is a great opportunity for someone who cares about kids and wants to make a difference in their lives while making some extra money and having a great time doing fun camp activities.

Interested? Contact Maura Hanlon, Camp Mariposa Program Director, at (267) 679 – 6158 or mhanlon@jfcsphilly.org.
