National Health Corps
Request for Proposals 2017-2018
Full Application: Due: Friday, November 11, 2016 8 pm EST/5 pm PT

A. Overview
National Health Corps (NHC) is an AmeriCorps service program that is funded in-part by the Corporation for National & Community Service (CNCS). The Health Federation of Philadelphia (HFP) is the primary grantee for NHC and administers the program currently in partnership with operating sites throughout North Florida, Chicago, Philadelphia and Pittsburgh.

Founded in 1994, NHC envisions a nation where all people have the knowledge, commitment and access
to health and wellness services to lead healthy, productive and fulfilling lives. NHC’s mission is: To
foster healthy communities by connecting those who need it most with health and wellness education,
benefits and services, while developing tomorrow’s compassionate health leaders. In June 2016, HFP was awarded a three-year competitive grant from CNCS to support 90 full-time members to implement NHC program activities between August 2016-August 2019 at four operating sites in North Florida, Chicago, Philadelphia and Pittsburgh. In January 2017, HFP will be submitting a continuation funding application to CNCS to request possible expansion of our AmeriCorps program from August 22, 2017 – August, 21 2019.

Through this funding opportunity NHC is seeking applications from interested sub-grantee operating sites who can support the possible expansion, recruitment, training, supervision and placement of NHC members in their local communities. Funding is contingent on HFP receiving funding from CNCS in May 2017 for program expansion.
