Call for Editor:
Anthropology & Education Quarterly

The Council on Anthropology and Education seeks to appoint a new editor of Anthropology & Education Quarterly, the leading journal in anthropology and education since 1969. AEQ is the journal of the Council on Anthropology and Education, published by the University of California Press for the American Anthropological Association. AEQ reaches over 1,400 subscribers, including 500 libraries worldwide.

AEQ publishes peer-reviewed research and review essays on schooling in social and cultural contexts and on human learning both inside and outside of schools. Articles rely primarily on ethnographic research to address immediate problems of practice as well as broad theoretical questions. AEQ also publishes on the teaching of anthropology. The editor plays a crucial role in shaping scholarship in the field and in encouraging the voices of new and under-represented scholars.

Candidates should combine a commitment to excellence in scholarship in anthropology and education, strong organizational skills, and significant support from their home institution(s) to supplement funding provided by the Council on Anthropology and Education. The CAE Board anticipates interviewing candidates at the meetings of the American Anthropological Association, November 17-21, in San Francisco, and making an appointment by spring 2005. There will be a transition period culminating in full editorial control by December 2005. The editor serves a three-year term.
